What are ARCs and why should I send them?

ARC stands for "advance reader copy". They are complimentary copies given to passionate readers to generate buzz and honest reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, and other destinations around your book launch. While ARCs are ideally distributed prior to launch (so you can launch your book with reviews on day 1), they can also be distributed after launch. 

ARCs help provide early social proof to convert future viewers into buyers, thereby helping sell more books on Amazon and other book stores. Early reviews also influence Amazon's algorithms, ranking your book higher on Amazon in the initial days after launch when Amazon self promotes new releases to their millions of readers for a short period.
