I found a pirated copy of my book floating around. What are my options?

Sorry to hear you found your book on a pirate site. While we take measures to guard against piracy, it's impossible for anyone (even Amazon) to prevent it completely. Basically if you publish digital content of any kind, you are risking piracy.

Here's what you should do next:

  1. Check whether you're able to download your book from the pirate site. Many pirate sites say they have the book but don't actually have it. They do this as a form of clickbait so people create accounts with them. If you cannot actually download your book from the site, then this is probably a false alarm.
  2. If you can download the book from the piracy site or if want to be extra cautious, issue a DMCA takedown notice. In most cases, an email to the site administrator will suffice. On occasion, you may need to be more aggressive. This blog post explains everything.
  3. To reduce your risk of piracy, we recommend vetting readers before they can access your ARC. Moreover, it helps removing the PDF format (if you provided one) because the PDF is the easiest format to pirate.

If you wish to no longer list your book on BookSirens, you can remove your book completely. Kindly note that we do not offer refunds for this scenario.
