Why was my Author Plan application declined?

Due to high demand and our limited staff, we cannot provide specific reasons for why an application was declined. Often the reason for a decline has nothing to do with the application or author(s) but simply lack of space availability.

Was I billed? Rest assured that if your application is declined, you are not billed.

Can I reapply? Yes, but only if you reapply after 6 months or after promoting at least one book via our Promote Plan. See our acceptance criteria for the Promote Plan and follow the submission process.

Here are some of the common reasons why we may decline an Author Plan application:

  1. You don't write in English.
  2. You are a debut author.
  3. You don't have a proven track record of publishing high quality, positively-reviewed work.
  4. You have promoted a book with us under the Promote Plan but it drew very few readers.
  5. We don't feel we can do an adequate job finding readers for your pen names. If you write nonfiction, we may not have readers interested in the niche you write about.
  6. We are at the capacity of what our team can handle right now.

Next Steps

We recommend checking out our book reviewer directory. It has ~1000+ reviewers whom you can search by genre and filter according to your preferences. The directory is a great way to find and connect with reviewers outside of BookSirens, and it is absolutely free to use!

We'd also be happy to refer you to other similar services that might be able to help you distribute ARCs to your readers. Thankfully, you have many affordable options. We don't receive a referral commission. All you have to do is ask.

If you wish to close your account, see this.

We wish we could accommodate everyone, but it's simply unrealistic. We wish you success on your writing journey!
